The Gold Star Breakfast is the Highline Schools Foundation’s biggest fundraising event of the year, helping us raise critical funds that give us the opportunity to provide a variety of programming throughout Highline Public Schools. We are able to provide school supplies and basic needs to students throughout the district, boost innovative learning in classrooms and libraries through Excel and Impact Grants, and pivot quickly to new and emerging needs as they arise.
2023 Gold Star Fundraising Breakfast
The 2023 Gold Star Fundraising Breakfast, which took place on Friday, April 21st at Cedarbrook Lodge in SeaTac, was a rousing success, raising over $110,000 in support for the Highline Schools Foundation. The Highline High School Jazz Band kicked off the event, which began with recognition of the 2023 Gold Star Awards winners, including presentation of the Gold Star Outstanding Alumna award to Maya Mendoza-Exstrom, Chief Operating Officer Seattle Sounders FC and Highline High School Class of 1999; we also heard from Dr. Ivan Duran, Highline Public Schools Superintendent, and Matt Griffin, longtime supporter of the Foundation and Highline Public Schools during our program.
Special thanks to our guests and sponsors, including Matt Griffin & Evelyn Rozner, Boeing, Integrus Architecture, Skanska, Vanir, Alaska Airlines, Bassetti Architecture, Ferguson Wellman, Gesa Credit Union, HMSHost, Key Bank, McKinstry, Perkins Coie, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, Absher, Foster Garvey, and Highline Education Association.
