The Bill Maynard Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of the late Bill Maynard, a beloved figure in the Highline Public Schools. Bill was the coordinator of the Steps to Success program, and he cared deeply for the students that he worked with.
In honor of the work that Bill performed, this scholarship will be awarded to an individual who has struggled to overcome great adversity. The candidates will not be evaluated by their grade point or SAT scores, but by their future plans, financial need and their ability to succeed and learn from their personal challenges.
One (1) graduating student from the Highline Public Schools will be awarded this $500 scholarship annually and it may be used towards college tuition or supplies for the Fall 2010 term. The Bill Maynard Memorial Scholarship will be sent directly to the college/university of the recipient, and may only be used for tuition or supplies.
The winner of the 2010 Bill Maynard Memorial Scholarship is Michelle Wunch. She will be attending the Western Washington University. Congratulations!
